The Indian team on the Super Brain television show in Nanjing, China

Representing India In China · Story 04

From the World Memory Championships in Sanya to Super Brain in Nanjing

The World Memory Championship was over.

The Indian team had completed the journey they had originally come to China for.

Their return tickets to India were booked.

It seemed that the China journey was coming to an end.

Then, the day before their planned departure, an unexpected message arrived.

An Unexpected Invitation

The Indian team received a message in the afternoon asking them to participate in a television show.

Initially, they had no idea who was contacting them or what the programme was.

They assumed it might be an invitation for a television interview.

With their return tickets already booked for the following day, the team declined.

They explained that they could not stay longer to participate in a television programme.

But the people contacting them continued to request their participation.

They offered to arrange new flight tickets to India and take care of accommodation, boarding, lodging and other arrangements.

Then they shared a link to previous episodes.

The mystery was finally solved.

It was Super Brain.

Was This Really Super Brain?

The Indian team was initially skeptical.

The opportunity seemed too unexpected.

But the Hong Kong Memory President and Malaysia Memory Council President confirmed that the approach was genuine.

They explained that Super Brain had learned that Indians had travelled to China to participate in the World Memory Championships and wanted Indians to participate in the show.

The Indian team was also encouraged not to miss the opportunity.

With the encouragement and confirmation from international memory sports leaders, the team decided to accept.

The arrangement was agreed:

  • G. Anumitha would participate as the contestant.
  • Dr. P. Srinivas Kumar would accompany G. Anumitha as her trainer.
  • G. Siva Narayana would accompany them as well.

Super Brain agreed to arrange their onward travel and accommodation.

But there was another surprise waiting.

Sanya To Nanjing

The show was being held in Nanjing, approximately 2,200 kilometres from Sanya according to the travel arrangements shared with the team.

The Super Brain team collected their passport details and said flight tickets would be sent.

The Indian team waited.

And waited.

The entire day passed.

But the tickets did not arrive.

The following day, the team was already supposed to return to India.

They could not risk missing their original journey while waiting indefinitely for tickets that had not yet arrived.

So they decided to proceed with their return journey.

They prepared to leave for the airport.

A cab was booked.

The team got into the cab.

And then everything changed again.

The Tickets Arrive

Just as the team had boarded the cab and begun travelling towards the airport, messages arrived from Super Brain.

The flight bookings to Nanjing had finally arrived.

The team was still cautious.

Before changing their plans completely, they wanted to make sure the tickets were genuine.

They proceeded to the airport and checked directly with the airline.

The airline confirmed that the tickets were real and had been booked in their names.

The decision was made.

They were not returning to India yet.

They were going to Nanjing.

Welcome To Nanjing

When the team arrived in Nanjing, they encountered a completely different environment.

The temperatures were around 0°C, with extreme cold compared with the conditions they had experienced in Sanya.

Someone from the Super Brain team was waiting at the airport with the names of the Indian team members.

They were taken to their hotel.

The hospitality continued throughout their stay.

Finding Indian food in China was not easy, but the Super Brain organisers made special arrangements and ensured that Indian food was provided through an Indian restaurant during the team's stay.

The Indian team stayed in Nanjing for more than seven days.

Inside Super Brain

The team successfully participated in the Super Brain show.

For G. Anumitha, it was an opportunity to appear as a participant.

For Dr. P. Srinivas Kumar, it was an opportunity to accompany and support G. Anumitha as her trainer.

For G. Siva Narayana, it was another unforgettable chapter in the journey he had undertaken with his daughter.

The experience went far beyond the competition itself.

The team witnessed an extraordinary television production environment, experienced advanced technology and met a professional crew that worked to make their stay comfortable.

The hospitality extended to the Indian team throughout their stay in Nanjing became another memorable part of the experience.

From A World Championship To A Television Stage

Just days earlier, the Indian team had travelled to China for the World Memory Championships.

They had never planned to travel to Nanjing.

They had never planned to participate in a television show.

They had simply planned to represent India at a World Championship and return home.

But one unexpected message changed the journey.

The invitation took them from Sanya to Nanjing, from a world championship arena to the set of Super Brain.

The Journey Home

After more than a week in Nanjing, the Super Brain team arranged the Indian team's return journey.

The route took them through Bangkok before they continued to India and finally reached Hyderabad.

The journey that had begun with so much uncertainty had ended with an experience none of them had anticipated.

A Journey To Remember

G. Anumitha, Dr. P. Srinivas Kumar and G. Siva Narayana had travelled to China with one purpose: to represent India at the World Memory Championships.

Along the way, they had faced an accident, surgery, medical restrictions, Cyclone Michaung, cancelled flights, visa complications, denied boarding and unexpected travel routes.

They had raced to get an Indian flag to the airport.

They had finally reached the World Championship.

And just when they thought the journey was over, another door opened.

An invitation to Super Brain took them from Sanya to Nanjing and gave them an experience they had never imagined when they first left India.

They returned to Hyderabad carrying far more than they had taken with them:

memories of a World Championship, international friendships, unforgettable experiences and a story that would remain with them for a lifetime.
