Memory sport is a mind sport in which competitors memorise information under timed conditions and then recall it as accurately as possible. It combines focus, technique and speed, and anyone can learn it.
The disciplines
International memory competitions include ten standard disciplines, among them speed numbers, binary numbers, random words, names and faces, abstract images, historic dates and speed cards. Each discipline tests a different kind of memory.
How competitors train
Memory athletes use proven techniques to turn information into vivid images and place them along familiar routes, often called memory palaces. Regular practice builds speed and accuracy over time.
Why take part
Beyond medals and records, memory sport builds concentration, confidence and learning skills that help in school, work and everyday life. Championships in India give competitors of every age a chance to test their progress and meet others who share the same interest.
