In association with the Indian Memory Sports Council, IMSA brings another national platform for memory athletes to challenge themselves
The Indian Memory Sports Academy is delighted to announce its upcoming national championship — an event designed to bring memory athletes from across India and beyond together on one competitive platform.
In association with the Indian Memory Sports Council, IMSA presents:
17th Indian National Open Memory Championship 2026
Challenge Your Memory. Test Your Limits.
The championship will be held on 14 November 2026 at JNTUH, KPHB Colony, Kukatpally, Hyderabad.
It will be a one-day celebration of Memory Science, Memory Sport, competition and human potential, bringing participants together to test their memory skills across a wide range of disciplines.
Ten Disciplines. One Overall Champion.
The 17th Indian National Open Memory Championship will feature 10 Memory Sport disciplines:
- Names & Faces
- Binary Numbers
- Random Numbers
- Abstract Images
- Speed Numbers
- Historic & Future Dates
- Random Playing Cards
- Random Words
- Spoken Numbers
- Speed Cards
Participants will compete across the disciplines, with the highest overall score across all 10 disciplines determining the Indian National Memory Champion.
The championship will also recognise the leading performers in the Kids, Junior, Adult and Senior categories.
A Championship For Every Generation
Memory Sport offers something unusual — people from very different stages of life can compete within the same discipline.
The 2026 championship will have four age categories:
- Kids — 12 years or under
- Juniors — 13–17 years
- Adults — 18–59 years
- Seniors — 60 years and above
Whether you are a young learner taking your first steps into competitive Memory Sport or an experienced participant looking for a new challenge, the championship provides an opportunity to test your abilities.
Only 100 Seats
Participation in the 17th Indian National Open Memory Championship is limited to 100 participants.
Registrations will remain open until 31 October 2026, or until all 100 seats are filled, whichever comes first.
No registrations will be accepted after 31 October 2026.
An additional 10 seats are reserved for Senior Category participants until 30 September 2026. Any unused reserved seats will subsequently be made available to participants across all categories.
With limited participation, those interested in competing are encouraged to complete the registration process early.
A Championship Built Around Preparation
Competitive Memory Sport is not simply about natural memory ability.
Participants can learn techniques, practise different disciplines and develop strategies to improve their performance.
IMSA encourages participants to prepare systematically for the championship.
Registered participants will also receive free training to help them understand and prepare for the competition.
The objective is to ensure that participants do not simply arrive at the championship — they arrive prepared to challenge themselves.
More Than Winning A Medal
A Memory Championship is ultimately about competition, but the experience goes beyond the podium.
For some participants, it may be their first exposure to competitive Memory Sport.
For others, it may be an opportunity to measure their progress against experienced memory athletes.
For young participants, it can be the beginning of a longer journey.
And for senior participants, it can be an opportunity to continue challenging themselves through a discipline that can be pursued at different stages of life.
Every participant leaves with an experience — and potentially, a new understanding of what their mind can accomplish.
Looking Towards The Future
The 2026 championship also comes at an important point in the development of the national Memory Sport ecosystem.
The Indian Memory Sports Council has indicated that from 2027, national championships are planned to be reorganised to allow participation through qualification and selection processes.
The 2026 championship therefore provides an opportunity for participants to experience the current open championship format before the proposed qualification-based structure.
